Inspiring future engineers: The James Dyson Foundation's STEAM Week

The James Dyson Foundation recently launched our first STEAM Week (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths), an initiative to inspire primary school students to explore STEAM subjects through our fun, hands-on Challenge Cards.

Our Challenge Cards, designed by Dyson engineers, introduce students to engineering and science principles in a practical and enjoyable way, encouraging curiosity and problem-solving.

From November 25 - 29, the James Dyson Foundation donated over 100 Challenge Card Starter Kits to primary schools across the South West of England. Each box included materials for five challenges, a progress-tracking poster and certificate templates to celebrate student achievements.

STEAM Week was created for two reasons:

  1. To get young students excited about STEAM subjects ahead of their transition to secondary school.

  2. To support teachers with free, educational resources that make STEAM subjects accessible and enjoyable for all.

Feedback from teachers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising how the activities fostered teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking skills among their students.
