Check our our new air pollution Challenge Cards
The James Dyson Foundation has designed air pollution themed challenge cards to celebrate Clean Air Day.
To celebrate this year’s Clean Air Day, The James Dyson Foundation has created some new challenge cards about Air Pollution!
Air Pollution is chemicals or particles in the air that have harmful effects on both the environment and human health. In areas with particularly large amounts of air pollution, this can cause reduced visibility from smoke and haze. Understanding air pollution is the first step in finding ways to reduce it and its harmful effects.
These 3 fun challenges were designed by Dyson Engineers and are suitable for all ages!
Acidic Rain
Acid rain is a form of acid deposition which is damaging to water, wildlife, forests, crops and man-made structures, caused by air pollution.
Learn how to make your own acidic rain and see what happens to plants when they are exposed to acid rain.
Marble Madness
Filters are used to help purify the air by capturing gas and particulate matter pollution. We will understand how filters capture different sized particles.
Let’s make your own filter using string, a cardboard tube and marbles!
Particle Fishing
Particulate matter is a form of air pollution that includes things like dust, pollen and smoke. We will collect this particulate matter to understand what areas might be more polluted.
Use your detective skills to identify different particulate matter using a magnifying glass.
